Cheers to wellness!

I’m finally feeling back to myself. I had a round of antibiotics and lots and lots of lozenges to get my through my throat infection. I’m no worse off for it; except I noticed my voice is more husky than before. I’ve made peace with having a more masculine voice so I won’t belabor the tragedy on this space.

An amazing thing happened while I was sick! I was famished. I couldn’t eat for days and I was complaining to my Mom about it. My Mother angrily reminded me that she bought me s mini blender for the purposes of making smoothies. She gave me this gift last November and I hadn’t even taken it out of the box yet. She also reminded me that she used to somehow get me all my nutrients in the days of chronic infections.

I trudged out to Trader Joes and got some frozen fruit. I got a mixed berry bag, pineapples and mangoes. I also got some orange juice and coconut water. The magic started! This is officially a smoothie house.  Instead of snacking, now that I’m well; I’m going to proactively have one in the evening.

This is beneficial in a few ways:

  • I know for sure I’ll have at least 2-3 servings of fruit/vegetables every day.
  • I’ll still consider it a snack; smoothies, when made to our own taste are amazing. No more worrying if it will taste like the last time you got it from that random place.
  • Keeps me creative in the kitchen because i’ll be thinking of the next most awesome combination ever. 🙂
  • A wanted to detox at the end of the Month, this will help us transition.

I’m excited; smoothies always seemed taxing and tedious but this Hamilton Beach Single-Serve blender makes it quick and really fun. Mine also has a travel lid; Mom is always thinking ahead!

Mine is the same as this, just a different color: Blender

At least some good came out of this bout of illness. 🙂
