100 Word Stories #2

I hated having to quietly tip-toe around what used to be our sanctuary so that I can pack my things and make the most gentle exit. I was not under the illusion that this would last but I wasn’t expecting this. He was done.

She just arrived, looking at me intently, her story veiled by her long eyelashes that were wet with unspent tears. We were finally acclimating to the idea that the relationship we were building and finding comfort in it.

This was not only about the dissolution of our relationship. We hurt others along the way.

It’s over.
